Thursday Jun 28 @ 12:21amAt times I feel like I watch people too closely. Body language, eye contact, etc. But it keeps me sharp . I don’t realize how much more attentive I am in every day situations until I discuss things with people and they didn’t notice the same things. Such a gift and a curse. It’s hard when you don’t fall for the bullshit. That would be so much easier sometimes.
Reblog and spread the word about Sierra LaMar

Sunday Mar 11 @ 09:28pmHis name is Jorge Steven Acuña (a.k.a. JSA(his initials). He is a friend of many, son of Jorge Acuña and Blanca Susana Mendez Pinto, model citizen of his community, Germantown, MD, and a stellar, full time student at Montgomery College. His goals and dreams are to attend Johns Hopkins University in order to become a surgeon.
But on the morning of March 7th, 2012, him and his family were taken into custody by Immigration Enforcement and Removal. And his only crime? Staying in America in hopes of a better life.
When they came here, they came to the United States with a military visa and in search for a political asylum. When they found one, they applied as a family, however, by the 4th time, were denied and given a deportation order in 2008. With already having their life set up and their son being 12 years old, they did not follow through but still stayed, persevered as a family and strive for a better future, despite the setback and the anticipations of the unknown. Even with limitations, they were active, functioning and succeeding members of their community. All found jobs while still being conscious of their risk of being discovered.
Now, they are held in the Snow Hill Detention Center like vicious criminals with maximum security facing deportation to the country of Colombia with a possible 10-15 years exile from the United States.
You may or may not know him, but him and his family do not deserve this. And his case might relate to you or someone you know.
There are petitions, Facebook groups, Twitter trends, posters created to help his family and to help his family live the dreams they have in America. Please, take one minute out of your time to help a great friend, son, student to see light and accomplish his dreams through signing the petition, joining the Facebook Group, tweeting #JSA.

Together, we CAN make a difference!

Jorge Steven Acuna known by his initials JSA is a fulltime student who was on pace to finish his 2 year degree at Montgomery college in 2 semesters. He was a stellar academic as indicated by his college and high school transcripts (3.8 GPA in high school, 3.5 GPA in College), teachers, and dean’s list award and has aspirations of one day entering medical school at John Hopkins University. Jorge is a model figure, not just for friends and family, but for adolescents across the country. Jorge’s only crime was being brought to this country at the age of 8 and excelling at school, sports, and dreaming of one day being able to benefit our community. All this is being taken away from him. Jorge Steven Acuna faces deportation to the country of Colombia. Please listen to our voices and help our dear friend live the life he dreamt of. Thank you.
